By Dr. Karen Ilika On occasion, women are exposed to the possibility of pregnancy unexpectedly. This may happen through failure of a condom or other barrier, failure to plan for protection, unwanted sexual contact, or other event. In the state of Washington, it is possible to obtain emergency contraception, "the morning after pill", from participating pharmacies without a doctor's prescription. It is important that the medication be taken within 72 hours of unprotected sex. A website that provides information about emergency contraception and where you can obtain it is available at : http://ec.princeton.edu/ My office does not provide prescriptions for ANY medications for women who are not established patients. |
